Amsterdam International Art Fair

Amsterdam International Art Fair is a gathering show for all art lovers, taking place annually in August since 2011. It is organised by the Global Art Agency which helds events all over the world, including the Shanghai Art Fair, the Tokyo Art Fair and the Oxford Art Fair. The Amsterdam Art Fair hosts about 40 galleries for Netherlands and abroad which showcase thousands of original artworks. They can be divided in three sections: contemporary art, modern art and urban art. Paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations, prints and more are displayed in the booths. The price range is pretty wide. Indeed, both emerging talents and established names are represented. Thus, first-time buyers as seasoned collectors can discover and purchase edgy pieces.  A not-to-be missed event at a time of the year where there are way too many art fairs.

Who is the typical attendee of Amsterdam International Art Fair?

We have local visitors from the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, art collectors from the Global Art Agency database, press, gallerists and the exhibitor’s visitors that are worldwide.

What strategy – physical as digital – will you adopt in medium to long term?

We have always had an option for artists to exhibit remotely with our Digital Art Showcase on a plasma screen. We are also currently working on a few other options for artists to ship their work and the Global Art Agency install the work for them, visitors will be able to contact the artist directly and exhibitors can hire a representative. Watch this space!

What are two other art fairs you would suggest?

We would highly recommend TEFAF New York and COLLECT in London.
