Salón Acme
The edgy Salón Acme takes place annually in Febrary, in the heart of Mexico City, at the same time as Zonamaco Arte Contemporáneo or Material Art Fair. It truly aims to promote young talents and off-beat artists from Mexico and abroad. Thus, the show offers them an international visibility without any cost, as the application for the Open Call section is free of charge. That is very unusual indeed for an art fair. Additionally, other sections complete the show as “Guest State” which highlights Mexican artists from different backgrounds, “Editorial Room” which presents some special publications and books, or “Public Program”, with talks and discussions. Visiting Salón Acme, the public can really discover the artists behind the work as they mostly are on hand to discuss and beacause there is no galleries involved in the process.
