Florence Biennale
Since its creation in 1997 by Pasquale and Piero Celona, the Florence Biennale has grown to become one of the leading contemporary art fairs in Italy. Taking place every two years, this ‘platform’ displays a wide range of mediums. Indeed, visitors can discover painting, jewellery, textile, sculptures, photographs, mix media, video, drawing, performances and installations. The price range is wide as well. It thus pleases both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers. Finally, prizes are given for art judged in different categories with an overall award – the ‘Lorenzo il Magnifico’ Award – presented by a panel of experts and critics. ln brief, Forence Biennale is truly a hub for contemporary art that also includes conferences, workshops, performances and lectures. It takes place at the same time as the BIAF, Biennale internazionale di Antiquario di Firenze.
