For this edition, Art Basel welcomed 285 galleries from 36 countries. Among them are 21 gallerists participating in the fair for the first time, three of whom had been exhibiting directly in the ‘Galleries’ main sector: Blank Projects from Cape Town, Empty Gallery from Hong Kong and Offer Waterman from London. ‘Galleries’ is completed by 7 different sectors: ‘Unlimited’ for monumental projects, ‘Feature’ for curated presentations by 20th and 21st centuries artists, ‘Statement’ for solo shows of emerging artists, ‘Edition’ for editioned works, prints and multiples, ‘Parcours’ for site-specific works and ‘Kabinett’ for curated selection by the galleries within their booth. Swiss-based Moroccan artist Latifa Echakhch was in charge of designing the Messeplatz, with a sprawling superstructure that hosted a series of live concerts and performances.

Following this 2023 edition, Maike Cruse took up her post as Director of Art Basel in Basel, a position newly created following the departure of Marc Spiegler as Global Director.
