After a few eventful years, between a cancelled edition in 2021 and the one in 2022 shifted to June due to the pandemic, Brafa was back in January, at Brussels Expo, for its 68th edition. An eclectic fair presenting a range of objects from all disciplines and origins over five thousand years of art history, it is nonetheless the ideal place to collect Belgian art. Of the 130 participating galleries, 52 were Belgian and most of them presented Belgian artists. Many of them were represented on the stands, such as the painter Emile Claus or the goldsmith Philippe Wolfers. Even foreign galleries brang in some Belgian pieces (Alexis Bordes, Boulakia, Morentz, Studio 2000, etc.). Finally, the theme chosen for this 2023 edition was Art Nouveau, of which Belgium is one of the centres, and the famous Brafa carpet was based on original drawings by Belgian architect Victor Horta.
